Sorry its taken a while for this to go up, but here it is! 

1) Hey Hannah, so first off who are you? Where you from?

I’m Hannah, owner/designer/everything else of The Pocket Co., from Northwest England / Manchester!

 

2) How did ‘The Pocket Co.’ come about?

I made myself a couple of pocket t-shirts with some offcuts of fabric from a local fabric shop and tons of people asked me where I got them from, so I made and sold a few to friends and my followers on Tumblr. Then I decided to create a ‘proper’ brand based around the idea of pocket t-shirts (hence ‘The Pocket Co.’) and it’s grown from there!

 

3) What was it like when you first started? Was it hard to find materials and manufacturers?

Well I personally hand make each product so manufacturing has never been a problem, and fabric in every print you could imagine is available on the internet and on markets etc if you know where to look, so no those things have never been a problem for me.

 

4) What were the first pieces that came out of ’The Pocket Co.’? What kind of reception did they get?

After the initial selling to friends etc, the first products I released were all pocket t-shirts. The initial five prints available were Camo, Aztec I, Bones, Luxe Leopard and Pink Leopard on either black or white t-shirts. Since then I’ve gradually added, changed and removed print choices and t-shirt colours.

 

5) How many different pocket tees have you made since then?

Since then two other Aztec prints have come and gone (although keep your eye out for them returning!) and more recently Cats and Puppies prints have become available. The range of colours of t-shirt available has also expanded to include grey and burgundy as a regular occurrence and the last release included lilac t-shirts. More colours will be available in the near future!

 

6) Of the stuff you’ve produced so far what is your favourite?

Ohh I couldn’t choose, I personally own an Aztec I t-shirt on grey, a Camo print on white and a Puppies print on white. I also love the Luxe Leopard fabric, the Cats and Bones prints… to be honest I only ever buy fabrics which I love and would buy myself!

 

7) Do you design a tee then source the fabric or find a cool fabric and turn it into a tee?

I usually have an idea in mind when I’m looking for fabric, but I’d say that my design process is more the latter than the former. If I see a fabric which I’m not necessarily looking for at the time but I think would look cool as a pocket, I almost always buy at least a small amount of it!

 

8) What’s the furthest you’ve ever had to send a tee?

Everywhere from local Lancashire to more exotic locations including Europe, the US, Canada and Singapore. The furthest I’ve ever sent a t-shirt was all the way to Australia!

 

9) What does the future hold for ’The Pocket Co.’?

Loads more prints, more t-shirt colours and eventually different products too. There has already been a small release of sweatshirts which will possibly be repeated when winter comes around again, and other products are certainly on the horizon come summer.

 

10) Did I see a pair of Galaxy Foams on your tumblr?

You did! Sadly they’re not mine though, my friend managed to pick a pair up for her boyfriend - lucky guy!

 

11) Is there anyone you need to mention?

I’d like to give a shout out to everyone who’s ever purchased something by The Pocket Co., it means a lot! Especially returning customers and those who have been there since the beginning.
